[Lodge230] Chehote CHAMPIONS District - October 24 Pinewood Derby for ETCH Patients

Hello all - we have a WONDERFUL opportunity to brighten the lives of
many of the young patients at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

 

On 10/24 - they will be having their Annual Fall Party and we are
partnering with them to host a Pinewood Derby race at their site. Here
are some of the details:

 

*	10/9 - we will take a few (maybe 20) pre-cut  and pre-painted
cars over to the hospital to allow the patients that are there at that
time to add stickers and other customizations. When done, we will write
their name on the bottom of their car and keep it "in the garage" until
the 10/24 event when they come back
*	10/10 - 10/23 - we will need to have an additional 40 cars
cut/painted and ready to go for the event the next day

*	10/24 - when the children arrive, they will select a car and add
stickers/customizations at that time - we will run several elimination
heats. 
*	(ROUND ONE) The first place finisher of each heat will go on to
the next round. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers will receive a
certificate. If we have 60 initial contestants - this should knock it
down to just 20 people that advance to round two.
*	(ROUND TWO) The first place finisher of each heat will go on to
the finals. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers will receive some type of
certificate and maybe a small trinket. This should narrow it down from
20 contestants to just seven or eight that advance to the FINALS.
*	(ROUND THREE - THE FINALS) Each contestant in the FINALS will
get a certificate and some nice item with the best items going to the
1st - 3rd place finishers.

 

WHAT WE NEED:

 

*	Donations to help cover the cost of all the car
kits/paint/stickers/etc - should be no more than $250.00.
*	Volunteers - we need people who are willing to help advance
assemble the cars (wheels/paint them/etc) 
*	Volunteers - we need folks to help on 10/9 from 9am to Noon and
again on 10/24 from 4:30 to 8:30pm
*	We need someone(s) who can cut out 60 derby cars (we will use no
more than 3-5 basic designs)

 

This is a GREAT opportunity to help kids who so very much need a
"positive distraction" in their life - something positive to do and
positive to look forward to.  It will bless them and their family
members to have a wonderful time.

 

PLEASE let me know ASAP if you (and your group) are willing to help in
any way. I need to get all of this confirmed very very quickly.
