If any OA members would like to get some service hours while supporting
a great event, the Chehote District is partnering with the East
Tennessee Children's Hospital during their 10/24/08 Fall Festival for
their youth patients. The HOPP Fall Festival (Hematology and Oncology
Patient and Parent Support Group) will be held at the Fort Sanders
Developmental School on 21st Street and Clinch Avenue and will run from
6:30pm to 8:30pm. Free parking is available behind the school.
We will be running a Pinewood Derby for the patients. On October 10, I
went to the hospital and helped 14 patients decorate their cars. The
cars had already been designed and cut out and painted THANKS to Lynn
Bates and Troop 501 so all went smoothly and quickly. I left another 10
cars for additional patients that might come in between 10/10 and the
party on 10/24. We will take an extra 36 cars on the night of the party
since they expect up to 60 total patients to attend the event. (cars and
supplies have been sponsored by the Downtown Kiwanis Club)
OA Volunteers will need to arrive no later than 5:30 to help set up and
decorate. If interested, please contact Anthony Ingram at 588-6514 x144
or aingram at bsamail.org ASAP.

helps them to be:
90%-A better citizen
88%-A better parent
73%-A better manager
66%-A better employee
69%-More patient and tolerant of others
65%-More open to new ideas
53%-More open to new opinions
